Adventure

I need an adventure. SRSLY!

I think I'm going to put a tandem skydive on the list. That would be really awesome. I need to save up the $300 though. What else is there? White water rafting on the Shubie river. Kayaking (I think I could do kayaking, as opposed to canoeing ... too hard on the foot). Climbing, although not now (foot). Skating. Any other suggestions?

A fail and a possibility...

My CD exchange potluck this weekend turned out kind of meh...only lovely Jsangspar brought a CD, so we just traded CDs! There were about six people there. So even though I technically accomplished this (I did host a CD exchange) I'm marking it not done.

My friend Rebecca may need an extra or even an actor this Saturday for a film shoot! PLEASE PICK ME!

Some more dones....

Most importantly, I saw whales! In person! Ryan and I took a trip to Brier Island this weekend and went on a whale watching tour, in a little boat with big ocean swells and a chill North wind. It was super awesome.

I also went to the exhibition! I patted a horse and rode on a new ride, the pirate ship.

Also, I got my blood pressure checked today and it was normal! Good news! I thought it'd be cycling out of control or something. So my weight loss efforts are already having their desired effect.

AFI's top 100

I added a new goal. I haven't figured out how I want to remove goals without keeping a record of them. I'd like to see how the list changes. Maybe I'll keep my original post static and change the list on the side.
=======

Movies.

Ryan and I rented two -- Sullivan's Travels and The Deer Hunter. Watched The Deer Hunter last night. Before I started this thing I'd seen 38. Now I've seen 39.

29 to go! I'll be watching the six of the top ten I haven't already seen (plus maybe the Wizard of Oz, it's been so long), so that leaves 23 to choose from the rest of the list. Recommendations accepted!

Progress, at last!

Well, here we are

5. Fix foot --> Got new sneakers, thanks to miracle GST cheque. THEY ARE SO COMFORTABLE. Also sent my orthotics away today to be adjusted. Side note: my orthotist actually knows my boyfriend and his friends very well, as he used to be neighbours with Ryan's best friend! Small city.

15. Go back to being veggie --> I started this last Wednesday and it's going very well so far.

31. Clean room --> Did six enormous loads of laundry and put it away. That's a good start.

63. Go to an exhibition --> DONE! Went to the Maritime Fall Fair. It wasn't too long on animal or craft displays (boo!) but I got to see dog tricks and pat a workhorse AND I rode on the Pirate Ship, which I have never done before.

66. Bring someone flowers ---> DONE! Brought flowers to my parents for Thanksgiving dinner.

73. I lost four pounds in the past month, which is pretty good for me!

Next week's whale watching trip is still on.

5.10.07

SNEAKERS!

Finally! I found some! They're black and hot pink and look cute and are water-repellent and hopefully won't smell to high heaven.

Ryan is giving me a lesson on driving standard this weekend. That should totally be on the list so I'm going to put it there.

4.10.07

More progress

The great Google Clean-up is next weekend, October 13 and 14. I won't be signing up, but it's inspired me to get in practice for my beach cleanup by bringing a pair of gloves and garbage bag on our whale-watching trip next weekend. At least I could pick up some roadside litter or shore debris while we're walking.

Sneaker shopping on my way to a free movie with my friend Colleen tonight.

Hosting a CD exchange!

3.10.07

Moving right along....

Yes! I am already accomplishing some things!

  • 63. This weekend, I am DEFINITELY going to the Maritime Fall Fair. Which is totally an exhibition. I mean, they have pig races and a petting zoo.
  • 32. Next weekend, Ryan asked me if I wanted to go whale watching at Brier Island! Which is basically the coolest thing ever!
  • 73. I think I've been losing weight but my pants size seems to be exactly the same as it ALWAYS is (I never change sizes, never have since I gained 35 pounds and lost 20 of them in frosh year). But my bras are looser. Weird.
  • 56. This list finally motivated me to call my landlords and tell them that if the place next door (with a deck) opens up, I'd love to have a crack at it. The apartments are slightly more $ than mine but way bigger and hello, deck! If I do get one, I'm going to treat myself to painting it. I'm tired of living in a land of beige and white.
  • 5. My foot's been worse lately. So, I decided to take my Visa payment for this week and buy a pair of comfy sneakers, finally. I'd been holding out for a hott pair, but they have NOT shown up at my door, so I'm going for comfortable. Also, I made an appointment with my orthotist to get my orthotics adjusted. So there you go. Next step: arch-strengthening exercises.

Beach cleanup

rose on Halifaxlocals wrote about my goal Do a beach clean up:

You can get your cleanup stuff for free & pool your results with international marine debris data to be used by the Ocean Conservancy. Their resources also make it ridiculously easy to get one together if you're including an unlimited amount of strangers.

COOL!

The deadline to register is August 31 and the cleanup takes place the third week in September.

A bit more about the project...

My end date is July 29, 2010.

One of my problems in coming up with this list is that I often have already done things I'd like to do. I'm impulsive like that. And not a big dreamer, apparently.

Also, please note: This list is subject to change. Also, financially, I don't think I could do all these things in 2.7 years, but I could plan for a few of them, at least. I went poking around the internet for other people's lists and ideas, and I did take a few, but I was also amazed at how much crazy overlap there was between lists.

I asked my boyfriend if he'd like to do anything on the list and he said: 4, 6, 9, 12, 13, 20, 21, 86, 91.

Anything you'd like to do with me?

So it begins

Trying out this new project -- 101 things to do in 1001 days. I've enjoyed myself composing this list, now let's see if I enjoy myself crossing things off of it!

I got the idea from Morgoid through Audra Williams. The main point of the exercise for me is to do some goal setting and some mid-to-long term planning.
